Alexander Haun, is from St. Andrews, New Brunswick, a small seaside community in southwestern New Brunswick. All through high school Alex worked at Kingsbrae Gardens in The Garden Café where his real passion for the industry began. After high school Alex knew that he wanted to train to be a chef, which led him to The Culinary Institute of Canada. He enrolled in the Culinary Arts program which led to a summer apprenticeship at Relaise & Château Kingsbrae Arms under Chef Marc Latulippe’s . After the Culinary Arts program, Alex took on a position as a Chef de Partie at Dundee Arms in Charlottetown under Chef Patrick Young, before returning back to the CIC to tackle the Pastry Arts program. Alex spent most of that year in the kitchens practicing for solo competitions and with the Jr. Team PEI as Team Captain under Coach Chef Blair Zinck. Alex hopes to make his family, wife, school, and country proud by representing Canada at the International Culinary Olympics. Alex is currently a Pastry Chef for the Murphy Group of Restaurants. Alex’s accomplishments include: Gold medal winner in the Knorr Culinary Challenge, New Brunswick; Gold Medal winner at the ACE Atlantic Culinary Exhibition; Runner-up in the Tabasco Jr. Culinary Challenge; 4th Place finish in the Nationals Newt Great Chef Recent competitions participated in Halifax Gold Plate 2006 Team Tribeca; Skills Canada PEI 2007
