Jessica Best, 21, was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Her
love of cooking began when, as a young teenager, she was
responsible for preparing family suppers every day after
school. That’s when she learned how much fun making great
food for the people you love can be. After graduating from
high school, she attended Memorial University of
Newfoundland for two and a half years, all the while knowing
in the back of her mind that she wanted to pursue a career
in the culinary field. She eventually decided it was time to
jump in with both feet. With no prior experience in the
industry, she began classes at The Culinary Institute of
Canada in September of 2006. She completed a work term at
The Rooms Café in St. John’s during the summer of 2007 under
Chef Darren Jackman and graduated from the Culinary Arts
program in April 2008. Jessica feels truly honored to have
been given such an amazing opportunity, and can’t wait to
see what the future has to bring.
